And We're on a roll!

I have great news. I lunched the past few days of writing 1,000 ahead of schedule. With any luck this momentum will carry me till February. Also I really feel like my story is finally taking off.

I have posted my first blog post on the Webtastic word blast. On that same note I am thrilled to say that I now have 4 followers subscribed to my site. I will try to post more often.

and now for the real good news. The issue with my knee is mostly resolved. I can't walk on it for hours at a time, but i am capable of walking on it for a decent amount of time. Hopefully after the new year I will be completely better.

By the way. the winner of the contest is David Mecce: One Small Child.

I can't think of much to write. I'm more interested in working on my story right now.

do over! .... what do you mean we can't do that in the real world?

well we finally got our white christmas. Waited 1 years for it but I finally got it. We went out to take pictures, and learned that the sidewalks had frozen over. Well after slipping and sliding we got the hang of it and started enjoying ourselves.

Me and my siblings then went out again to go build a snowman but we quickly discovered that the snow was just too dry to even make a snowball, much less a snow man.after iving up we headed back inside.

That's when thins went wrong. I stepped down on a piece of loose ice, and it skidded out from under me. My knee was dislocated very quickly, and I went down hard in our alley. Within seconds i went to pop it back, and crawl back into our yard. I sat down near the edge of the alley and then waited as my siblings went to go get help. I realized though that if I stayed where i was I would be getting way too cold.

I got up and with the help of my siblings I got inside and propped up my knee. This was a terrible start to what turned out to be a great day. we went to go open the presents and I got a game-boy player, a spider man book, a new denim shirt, and best of all a new MP3 player to replace the one that had broken three days before.

We didn't get to go look at lights but we did spend time together and had a great day.

Today however has been a bit of a fallout. People have gone nuts with shopping and I'm still hurt. My laptop is constantly struggling with this virus. I think I finally got it beat but I'm not confident right now.

I am also starting up a new blog. A story blog to be specific. I don't have anything ready yet but i will soon. I will give an update when i'm ready.

The final day of my 25 days of Christmas

In ways I can't decribe I am delighted. I do hope that you all are as exited as I am.

I have to be honest with you all. I knew all along that there would not be a winner. I can't decide. Both of these songs are so good that i can't pick a clear cut winner.

now I give you the oprotunity to pick the winner. which is it?

Relient K - I celebrate the day

David Meece - One Small Child

Thought of the month: God gave us his only child. The most precious thing to him. He did this os that we could live with him as sinless people despite our fallen ways. We celebrate this day because it marks the beginning of the story, the most important story of all.

God's love for us.

Merry Christmas.

Winter nightmareland

Maybe it is stupidity maybe it stupidity, maybe it is insanity.I wouldn't know, but I ran outside really quickly to get snapshots of this winter disaster (miracle) in progress.

Enjoy the pics.

Day 24 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

The final two runner ups to tomorrows winner.

Kutless - Mary did you know

David Meece - We are the reason

David Meece - We Are the Reason from Adam Brewer on Vimeo.

Thought of the day: I have been really enjoying this. I am kinda saddened that it ends tomorrow. I hope that you all have been enjoying it as much as I have.

Merry Christmas

Day 23 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Today we have an interesting couple of songs.

Relient K - Merry Christmas, Here's to Many More

One of the best on the album, and that's saying something.

Margret Becker - O come, O come, Emmanuel

The thought of the day: Read what you write before you publish it.

Day 22 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Jars of Clay: Love came down at christmas.

Thought of the day: um, I'm thinking? oh yeah um.................................................chirp chirp ....................................... Um, I guess I would say that you should never start writing a post without anything on your mind.

Day 21 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Hello once again. Today is Adoration by Newsboys.

Thought of the day: Today is less of a thought, and more of a question. What do you do for christmas sweets? We bake cookies, pies, Almond covered watermelon toes, Chocolate peanut butter balls, Chocolate covered pretzels, and Monkey heads.

Bonus, see if you can guess which ones we don't do.

Day 20 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Note: Today's song comes in two versions. White Heart, and Jars of clay. DO not be alarmed to see more than one song a day soon, as the greatest 7, are more like the greatest 8 or 9.

Thought of the day: Why are reindeer important? OK I understand most people do Santa Claus, but honestly even then you are kinda missing ANY point of christmas. Then again this is coming from the guy who doesn't like christmas trees, and put presents around the nativity.

Day 19 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: this is it, the final seven. From now on I will post progressivly better songs till we get the best one ever on Dec 25th.

Day 18 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Christ is come from Adam Brewer on Vimeo

Thought of the day: Do not upload to youtube, it is evil.  Try Vimeo instead.
On a more serious note I like cookies. Everyone has their own thing that they do at christmas, but for me it is Chocolate covered Peanut butter balls, and cookies. I love them a lot. Chocolate covered pretzals are good too, but not as good.

Day 17 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: Traditions are one of those things that I personally think makes this season so great. However I must say that we have odd traditions. Like coming up with new lawn decorations such as ghost sheep and Yetis. No we have not actually put them up yet. Maybe next year.

Day 16 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: This time of year it tends to be cold. Even here in Texas the mornings can be down in the twenties. It is generally not a good idea to go outside barefoot, and in a T-shirt. (for those of you with younger siblings: It is NOT ok to toss them outside in those conditions either.)

Day 15 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Triple Play! You will get three renditions of the same song today.
Sorry for being late.
Reliant K

Jars of Clay

Mercy Me.... Please excuse the picture, and no he is not related.

Thought of the Day: Craigslist is the ultimate frugal person's way of getting someone that gift they have always wanted. I use it all the time, and it really helps. It also elps in getting rid of all of those items that you don't want anymore.

Amazon free christmas music

Everyone likes good music, but we don't always have the money. So today i will list a few of my favorite songs that are free on Amazon. Keep in mind they may shut off these promos soon so get them as fast as possible.

O come, O come, Emanuel - Big Daddy Weave

Joy to the world - Casting Crowns

I heard the bell on christmas day - Casting Crowns

Here there are two versions by the same band, but they are completely different.
God rest ye merry gentlemen - Jars of clay

I may add more soon, but this is what I could think of right now.

Things you overhear that you never expect.

"God's yeti might make real reindeer"
That is the latest one, but there have been others such as: "Don't throw the mug, it will kill the mushrooms." and epic ones like: "Kill everyone, but don't kill mommy."

Ever have moments like this? I do all the time. Tell me about some of the weird things you have overheard recently.

Day 14 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: Little boys like action figures, but be prepared for insanity. Buddy now has a "rocket powered stinky Batman that was beaten up by a Ninja Jeep". I never do understand what they play, but it seems to boost their imaginations.

Sunday, December 13, 2009

Day 13 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: This guy has a good voice, but this song makes me crazy. My dad loves it, but I don't..... who honestly says with a straight face "A child shivers in the cold. Let us bring him silver and gold." that line drives me MAD!

Other than that it is a good song.

Day 12 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: Remember why we celebrate christmas. We listen to our songs, some sing them. we buy gifts, and receive them, but the real point of christmas is celebrating the day our Lord and Savior was born

Day 11 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: Gifts have this wonderful tendency of getting way out of hand. You have this desire to make the other person happy, and get them 6,523,178 gifts (may or may not be an exaggeration.) My mother who keeps coming up with these brilliant ideas came up with this dandy.

Limit of three presents from the parents, and one from any one particular sibling.
Considering the size of out family it still tends to get a bit out of hand, but another nice thing is that it keeps everything fairly even. Nobody is going to get an excessive number of gifts, and no one is going to get left out.

Day 10 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the Day: I must repeat this as I don't seem to be getting it. DO NOT STRESS OUT AT THE HOLIDAYS!!! oops....

The suicide generation.

We humans have a tendency to want something we can’t get. Over the past few generation that has been eternal youth, and the dream of making that happen. Generations before it was infinite wisdom that comes with age.

Now people think that the younger you are the more wisdom you will have, and that wisdom is just lost with age. If that bit of absurdity was not enough I have been noticing a disturbing trend. The Desire for eternal youth has become more of a morbid desire to die before we grow old.

It was the natural evolution of this lifestyle. Once people finally realize that eternal life is impossible here on this planet, then they realize that their desire to never grow old can only be filled one way: to die before you get to fifty.
This sick and twisted logic is one of those things that you would think is a freak case, but I am noticing it to be a growing, and increasingly disturbing trend. It is only a matter of time before this becomes truly a popular philosophy.

We as Christians need to help these people realize the truth before it is too late, and to realize that growing old is not all bad. If our lives are cut off at fifty then we will never experience everything we were meant to experience. I don’t know exactly how to combat this sickness, but I do know that we as Christians need to pray for these lost souls, and try to lead them to the light in every way we can.

Day 9 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: I'm bored, and I'm not fealing full of depth today. so how about this: don't do anything stupid, like decking the halls and bruising your hand.

let's see how many of you get THAT!

Day 8 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

This is hitting as one of my favorites. I love this rendition, but sadly it didn't make the top list because I wanted to show something truly great early on. despite getting put on the list early it is still a favorite.

Thought of the day: toddlers are ingenious people. They make the rest of us look like fools. Like the one currently swatting me for stealing his (my) laptop. make sure that if you use wrapping paper, to have double set back just in case he opens everything early.

A quick clarification

One I was meaning Gothic Heavy metal, referring to not just music but also lyrics. Heavy metal often, but not always has an angry, or hostile bent. I was specifically referring to Christian music using very little lyrically and everything musically

Two I AM willing to listen to a biblical argument, I said so already, but I want something definitive, not something that could be taken more than one way.

ALSO I check thing beyond more than one translation, and I thoroughly cover context before I agree. Tillie the last piece you gave me was a psalm, which was man written praising God, not God written rules on our lives.

I would again stress that it has little or nothing to do with the actual music, but the lyrics, and that is what i was referring to in most heavy metal. I will try to be more careful in the future about my terms

Day 7 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: check your spelling and grammar, or your mother will mark it against you. ;-)
Actually today's thought is be joyful; plain and simple.

Sunday, December 6, 2009

If we were meant to be cookie cutter Christians, then we would be.

Recently I had a debate with a follower of Tessa's who calls herself Tillie. She claimed this:
There is no difference between christian rock, and Secular rock.

Her reason? The rhythm and tone of rock. Rock is intense, and passionate. It is not dry at all, but full of will. Her argument is that Rock makes you angry and feel aggressive.

On a note I would agree with her about heavy metal, but rock is NOT heavy metal. Heavy metal was created based on hate anger, and destruction. there are some christian heavy metal artists out there, but nothing positive and happy.

Christian rock on the other hand is very often positive, or if not it does deal with a heavy subject. I will not say that all rock is good, but that is more to do with the lyrics than the music. Secular rock on the other hand falls often into bad, or downright evil subjects. Not that it is the rhythm that is evil, but the lyrics.

Now let us look at the opposite end of the spectrum. I don't like hymns. In fact i hate almost every one of them. They are dry and often weak. It occurred to me not that the music was bad, but that it didn't speak to me.

God uses strange things to speak to people, Rock speaks to me, not all the time as I usually am more into Pop than Rock, but it does speak to me nonetheless. It doesn't to Tillie, and in fact makes her upset. That's fine, but that doesn't mean it is evil. The Bible doesn't say what type of music we should play, or even what types of instruments are allowed. there is a huge book of song's LYRICS that we can read. Some of them are good, but most of them yet again i don't enjoy. not my style.

Yet here we are having this conversation. Tillie says that all rock is evil, or at least used by the devil to deceive us all. I say it is a form of art that can either praise God, or be used to praise evil. Just as any art it is a tool. It is up to us how we use it.

In the mean time don't say that something is evil unless the bible explicitly bans that kind of behavior, and until I see something about rock that is explicitly banned in the bible I will continue to listen to it.

Day 6 of my 25 days of Christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: stress. It can be a happy time of year, or it can be miserable. try not to stress out to much, and do everything you are needed to do to help reduce the stress in others.

Day 5 of my 25 days of christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: Don't do anything huge on Christmas day. We went to go see The first Narnia movie the year it came out on Christmas, and we have regretted it ever since. We consider it a mistake to do too much on Christmas day, and so we do that sort of thing on Christmas Eve.

Friday, December 4, 2009

The Thought of the day: I don't like Christmas trees. We put our presents around our Nativity instead.

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Day 3 of my 25 days of christmas countdown.

ok this vid is somewhat disturbing, but it's the official music video

Thought of the day: don't steal stuff. tends to make people unhappy. Oh and use bags instead of wrapping. saves time and looks nice.

Day 2 of my 25 days of christmas countdown.

Thought of the day: It is snowing out! For that might not be exciting to some of you, but for us Texans this is a huge deal because it never snows this early in the year.

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Day 1 of my 25 days of christmas countdown.

Today's Thought: Keep this season simple. Don't try to make it perfect, but just try to have fun with others along the way.
